How to Choose Pendant Size for Everyday Wear

A close-up makes every pendant look like a statement piece. The measurements tell you whether it is a small daily detail or something much bolder.
Read the size in the right units
Ten millimetres is one centimetre. A pendant listed as 18 mm tall is 1.8 cm tall, not 18 cm. Also check whether that height includes the bail or only the decorative part.
Try a paper outline
Draw a rectangle with the stated width and height on paper. Cut it out and hold it near where the pendant would sit. It will not reproduce weight or movement, but it makes scale easier to understand than a magnified photo.
Do not use the shape to judge exact chain drape.
Check the pendant’s width and height separately from the chain length. Cut a small paper shape to those measurements and hold it where the chain will sit. It is a quick way to see whether a piece feels subtle or bold on you. If an Aagrah listing does not show a measurement you need, ask us before ordering.
The outline is a visual aid, not a fitting tool.
What makes it comfortable every day?
Consider whether the pendant's back is smooth, whether sharp corners catch on fabric and whether it sits where she likes. A very small pendant can still feel awkward if the chain length is wrong.
If she wears collared shirts, check whether it will hide inside the collar or rest on the placket. If she wears simple tees, she may prefer a small visible detail or a longer drop. Let her habits guide you.
Buying for someone who wears one necklace often?
Use that necklace as your best clue. Match the scale unless she has said she wants a change. If her favourite is a plain small disc, a large heart with many stones is a different style choice even if both are “pendants.”
Ask for a clear on-person image and the dimensions if they are absent. Do not infer pendant size from the model's face or fingers; perspective can mislead.
What about the chain?
Check that the pendant and chain are designed to work together. A separately bought pendant needs a compatible bail and a chain suited to its weight. See the chain compatibility guide.
Once you know her preferred scale and colour, browse Aagrah pendants. Use the product's actual dimensions and current details to make the final choice, rather than treating every piece in a collection as the same size.
