The bright white finish on your ring looks warmer underneath. Before you try to polish it back, check whether you are seeing the metal below its rhodium coating.
Where should you look first?
Inspect the underside of a ring band, edges and other places that rub. Compare them with a less exposed part in the same light. A cloudy film and an exposed base colour can look different, but photos alone may not settle the cause.
Can polishing restore the white layer?
Cleaning may remove residue. It cannot deposit fresh rhodium. If the coating is gone, repeated rubbing is not a repair.

For an inexpensive fashion piece, the repair may cost more than replacement. For a sentimental gift, repair may still be worth considering. Decide after you have a quote, not before.
