Does Rose Gold Plating Fade? How to Check a Colour Change

The pink tone on your necklace seems lighter than it did in the listing. Is it fading, or are you seeing it in different light?
Check the light before the coating
Look at the piece near a window, away from strong coloured lights. Compare two parts of the same item rather than comparing it with an edited product photo on a bright screen.
Take a clear photo now. If you later contact the seller, it is useful to show the whole piece as well as the affected spot.
Why does the care label matter?
Rose gold colour does not identify the full construction. The base, coating and any stones may all have different needs. Instructions for a plain rose gold alloy are not automatically suitable for a plated fashion necklace.
For Aagrah pieces, follow the care instructions on the exact product page. Put jewellery on after perfume and lotion, wipe it with a soft, dry cloth after wear, and store it apart from other pieces. Normal finish wear and colour fading after use are excluded from our manufacturing-defect warranty.
What should you avoid?
Do not use toothpaste, a rough cloth or a metal polish to chase a pink colour that is no longer there. Avoid home “recolouring” with nail varnish. It may look uneven and makes later professional assessment harder.
If the seller recommends a gentle wipe, follow the pressure and product instructions. Stop if the surface changes further or the cloth catches on a setting.
Can it be replated in the same shade?
Possibly, but ask before assuming. A professional needs to assess the base and construction, and a fresh finish may not exactly match the old shade. Ask for a quote and a description of the expected result.
If the piece has sentimental value, say so. That lets the jeweller discuss whether repair, careful storage or leaving it as it is best preserves what matters to you.
Buying another rose gold gift?
Ask about the base, care and service options before you order. Choose rose gold because she likes the shade, not because a listing promises that it never changes.
Our rose gold material guide explains the wording. If you want several pieces to work together, use the small gift-set guide to compare colour without demanding a perfect match.
